Overview

Bak Chang, also known as zongzi 粽子, is a traditional Chinese rice dumpling typically enjoyed during the Dragon Boat Festival. It is made of glutinous rice stuffed with various fillings, such as pork, mushrooms, chestnuts, and salted egg yolk, then wrapped in bamboo leaves and steamed to perfection. The fillings and preparation methods can vary depending on the region and cultural background, resulting in various types of Bak Chang. In this particular event, Mr Johnny Ng will teach participants how to make authentic Nonya and Cantonese Bak Chang, two popular types of Bak Chang with distinct flavors and ingredients. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the techniques and secrets behind these tasty treats and bring home the bak changs that they made.
