Overview

The Gathering: 千岁宫 (Qiānsuìgōng) creates opportunities for an elegant gathering (雅集: Yǎ jí) within a pop-up garden in Kreta Ayer Square. Conceptualised by Singaporean artist Wong Lip Chin and curated by John Tung, the project takes inspiration from the winding stream parties (流觞曲水: Liúshāng qū shuǐ) first enjoyed by Chinese literati more than 1600 years ago. Re-envisioning the experience for contemporary audiences of all faiths and cultures, an intricately-constructed table with a winding stream feature serves as the main gathering place for tea-and-incense pairing sessions hosted by the artist.

Conducted by the artist, the artwork activations will take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
Programme:
- ‘Winding Stream Party’ Tea and Incense Experience with Wong Lip Chin.
- Walking through the Garden: Acoustic Chinese Instrumental Music Performances.
- Tea Routes with Kim Whye Kee.
- Photowalk with Ken Cheong.
- The History of Tea with Kim Whye Kee and Pek Sin Choon.
- Artist and Curator Talk with Wong Lip Chin & John Z.W. Tung.
